Majora Carter to speak at GSU in Statesboro

Keep Bulloch Beautiful Director, Jenna Lawson, dropped this in our mail bag today.

The Center for Sustainability and the University Wellness Program at Georgia Southern are pleased to announce Majora Carter as our spring Sustainability Seminar Series speaker. Many thanks to Campus Life Enrichment Committee for additional support. Carter is a strong voice of environmental justice and the green collar economy, and shows by example how environmental and economic sustainability can go hand-in-hand, creating both jobs that lead to economic stability and green initiatives that improve the health of individuals and their surrounding environment.

Majora Carter will speak at 7pm on Feb. 15 in the Performing Arts Center on the Georgia Southern Campus. Her lecture is entitled: “Green the ghetto and how much it won’t cost us.”

Her lecture is open to the Georgia Southern community as well as the general public and we encourage you to attend! The first 800 people will be seated in the Performing Arts Center, with overflow seating for 300 in the Assembly Hall. Please forward on to those you think might be interested.

Please note that Majora was on the NBC Nightly News this week as one of 100 History Makers in the Making. Feel free to view this 3 min. clip:
